Opportunities for entrepreneurship arise from problems and opportunities that form part of our daily lives. Daily life is full of inefficiencies waiting for someone to remedy them.

 

An entrepreneur is someone who identifies a problem, sees it as an opportunity for improvement and decides to act.

 

The problem is an opportunity. The important thing is not so much the problem as the value that we can give people by solving it.

Task Example sheets: there are 5 descriptions of problems that some companies had to overcome to remain in the market. They found a new and innovative solution using their imagination and thanks to an entrepreneurial attitude.

 

In this task you will have to discuss about their problem and try to solve it and find a solution. Then comment your group ideas with the rest of the groups.

Task Scenarios and problems: In the following template you will find different scenarios and problems. You must try to identify opportunities for entrepreneurship for each scenarios and problems. There is a blank column, so that your team can also work on possible problems of your own choosing. Upload the document to your drive once you have finish.

Task Observation: In this task you may be able to identify problems individually. To carry out this fieldwork, each member of your team will use this template on which there is some general advice and some guiding questions to make you think about how to observe your environment looking for problems to be solved. Try to fill  in all the blank spaces. What strategy are you going to follow as a team? What problems will you try to observe?

 

All this information will be very important for the next session. You will have to share it with the other teams so that each team can select the problem that will be the theme of their project. Don’t forget to upload it to your drive.

Task Scenarios and problems 2: Taking in mind all the problems you identified in the previous session and the fieldwork carried out by each member of your group, place in the following grid the most interesting problems (there are some more extra columns for you to fill in). Upload the grid to your drive.

Task Choosing the problem: Your team will need to open the document “Choosing the problem” in order to assess a maximum of 5 problems objectively.  You will have to rate each problem with a score from 1 to 5 according to three different categories. Discuss as a team which 5 problems are you going to select, as a first selection for your project. You may select the 5 problems considered the most interesting. Upload it to your drive.

 

After rating all 5 problems, your group will select the one that receives the highest score.

Task Guide: the problem: Once the problem has been selected, the responsible for communication will write a concise description of the problem that you propose to solve and the reasons that have led you to choose it. Upload it to your drive.
