Sílvia goes by Metro

Sílvia always takes the Metro at the stop that is closer to her home to go to the University. To make the journey, she has to make different line changes and she always asks herself if the route she uses, which is the one she believes it is the shortest one,  is also the fastest. It would be very good for her to have this information because she sometimes leaves home short on time, but she doesn’t want to try all the possible routes!

What Sílvia does not think is that the time it takes not only depends on the distance travelled but also on the speed of the trains and we can ask ourselves: do the trains of the different lines travel at the same speed?

So, come on,  let's apply your scientific and mathematical knowledge to answer Silvia and anyone who wants to make their journeys in the shortest possible time!

The speed on the Metro

Son Goku is very efficient with the technique of instant transmission. If we want to go from one place to another efficiently we can use Google Maps.

Before starting calculating the speed of the different trains you will need to familiarize yourself with Google Maps, because you will have to use it to make the different calculations. So, first of all, look at this tutorial:

Now you are ready.  Take your dossier and complete the following activities.

The Metro needs energy

Cell before completing with the android A17 and A18 already knew how to make the Kamehameha (an energy ball). The energy as you know, is not created or destroyed, it is only transformed. Therefore, the Metro must consume electric power to acquire movement (it transforms it into kinetic energy).

Let's see what happens with the energy in the Metro!

The Metro needs energy to move. When it brakes it generates energy. But these energies do not have the same characteristics.

Now that you have enough information, it's time to decide how to report this to your GOOGLE SITE:

  1. You will have to create a new page on your GOOGLE SITE called “Green Mobility” and you will have to inform about the speed of the Metro lines you have worked on and upload a text with your conclusions of the speed comparison. Do it on a nice table, with images of the lines, with drawings, in any way that would be understandable and visually appealing.

  2. You will have to write an explanatory text where you will have to explain rigorously the importance for everyone to pay the ticket, taking into account the energy costs that must be paid, but also the services offered by this public transport and the environmental benefits (ecomobility) with respect to the fact that all the users took their vehicle and consumed fossil fuels.

To do the explanatory text (in catalan), you must take into account its characteristics.

Here there is an example to identify them and some templates for you to use:
